Pentago

Pentago

Game Homepage
Pentago is a two-player abstract strategy game.

The game is played on a 6x6 board divided into four 3x3 sub-boards. Taking turns, each player places a marble of their color (black or white) onto an unoccupied space on the board, and then rotates one of the sub-boards by 90 degrees either clockwise or counter-clockwise. A player wins by getting five of their marbles in a vertical, horizontal or diagonal row (either before or after the sub-board rotation in their move). If all 36 spaces on the board are occupied without a row of five being formed then the game is a draw.

The program includes an AI (Artificial Intelligence).

Pentagram

Pentagram

Game Homepage
Pentagram is a project aiming to create an Ultima VIII engine

Pentagram is a game engine for running Ultima VIII on modern operating systems. Since a modified version of the Ultima VIII engine also powered the two Crusader games (Crusader: No Remorse and Crusader: No Regret) the team's ultimate goal is to be able to run those two as well. For those not familiar with the game: you are playing the role of the Avatar who already several times saved the worlds from evil forces in Ultima I-VII, but now you are thrown into the unknown world, which is already destroyed by those forces and you should explore it and find out the way to defeat the evil yet another time. On your way you will find many friends and foes including undead creatures, giant spiders and trolls, talk to local people and solve many mysteries and puzzles.

Additional System Requirements: Original files from Ultima VIII are required to play the game.

Pente

Game Homepage
An X11 version of the Pente board game.

This is an implementation of the Asian strategy game ni-nuki, which is a version of go-moku. Players place stones on a grid, and the first person to either place five in a row, or capture five pairs of his opponent's stones, wins. Two humans can play at the same terminal, but not (yet) across a network.

Penumbra: Overture Episode 1

Penumbra: Overture Episode 1

Game Homepage
First Person Horror Adventure Game

Penumbra: Overture is a first person adventure game which focuses on story, immersion and puzzles. Instead of using violence to progress the player has to use his/her wits to guide Philip on his quest to unravel the past.

Played from a first person viewpoint, Penumbra is very different from other adventure games. Not only is it powered by a 3D engine utilising cutting edge technology, it also has an advanced physics system which allow for a never before seen environment interaction. The player can open drawers, pull levers, pick up objects and more using natural mouse movements creating a highly interactive and immersive game world.

The weapon system differs from your average game; swinging a melee weapon is done using the mouse which increases the realistic feel of combat. Fighting enemies is not something best done with brute force though, in most situations fighting is a last resort and the player is often better of using his/her wits. The AI of the enemies will also do its best to hunt and scare the player. The creatures encountered can break down doors, use group co-ordination, interact with the physics and more.

Penumbra: Overture will keep players on the edge as they have to explore scary and immersive environments never knowing what is behind the next corner. The world is detailed, graphical as well as a story wise making the player feel part of the world as secrets are uncovered.
