Connx is a multiplayer implementation of the classic Connect-4 game, where the object is to drop pieces into the gameboard such that four of yours lie in a row; meanwhile, your opponent is doing the same thing. Connx has support for more than two people to play, which might make for an interesting moment or two, but otherwise it's the same as the board game everyone had in their closets as a kid.

Conquest is a real-time, multi-player space warfare game that was originally written in RATFOR for the VAX/VMS platform by Jef Poskanzer and Craig Leres. It was the early predecessor to Netrek. This page concerns itself with the Unix/C rewrite I completed in 1997. With conquest version 8.1 or better, an OpenGL based client is provided as well, which looks a heck of alot better.

Conquest runs on the following Unix operating systems:
• Unixware (SVR4.2MP), all versions (including 7.x)
• Intel/Sparc Solaris 2.6 or better with gcc 2.7.2 or better
• Linux (2.0.0 or greater kernel)
• FreeBSD 2.2 961006-SNAP (or better)
• Alpha/Digital Unix V4.0 (OSF1) using native compiler. My thanks to Jim Anderson (janderson@NOVALIS.COM) for providing this port
• MS Windows (XP, at least) using the Cygwin environment.

Hopefully any posix'ish unix can run conquest. If you port it to something, send me the patches so I can include it in the next release. Note, I have not built the OpenGL version (8.1) on anything other than Linux and Cygwin systems.

If you want to build the OpenGL client conquestgl, you must have working OpenGL 1.1 or better and GLUT libraries and headers present. To run conquestgl, your X server must support OpenGL rendering (with an alpha buffer), preferably in hardware - though software rendering is adequate if your CPU is fast enough.

Conquest of Elysium is a fantasy game where you and your friends take control of a powerful warlord or wizard and struggle for total control of the continent. Up to eight players may participate and the computer can control any free players. The game is turn based so you only need one computer to play the game with up to seven friends.
