Angry, Drunken Dwarves

Angry, Drunken Dwarves

Game Homepage
rock-dropping fun

In Angry, Drunken Dwarves, you are an angry, drunken dwarf. Why are you so angry? Who knows. But you've decided to take your aggression out on other dwarves, by dropping gems on their heads. Lots of gems. ADD is a member of the classic "falling blocks" puzzle game family, similar to the Capcom game Puzzle Fighter. The goal of the game is to build large gems by matching up colors, then break them, raining more gems down onto your opponent. The first person whose field fills up, loses. ADD runs on all major operating systems. It has seven playable characters, six levels of AI, secret game modes and characters, and an original soundtrack.

Animated LILO boot screens

Animated LILO boot screens

Animated boot screens!

Make your LILO boot screen more exciting with animated pictures! From the author's web page:

Since mid-2001, most Linux distributions include some patched versions of LILO (the LInux LOader) that support VGA or VESA graphical modes and make it possible to have a nice background image while booting. Starting with SuSE Linux 7.2, the SuSE distribution includes an interesting extension to LILO that allows a programmer to define some callback functions that are triggered when some events occur (key pressed, timeout, ...). It gives a much greater flexibility than the other extensions that are provided by most of the other Linux distributions, including the new graphical modes that have recently been added to the official version of LILO 22.x.

While testing the SuSE version of LILO and the helper program mkbootmsg, I was wondering if the timer callbacks together with the function that copies parts of the image to the screen could be used for creating animations. I quickly found out that it was indeed possible to enhance the boot screen with animations. Since my friends liked the results, I decided to share them on this web site. ... These animated boot screens have been tested with SuSE Linux 7.2 and 7.3. If you are using another distribution such as Debian, Red Hat, Mandrake or a custom set of packages, you will not get the expected results if you keep the version of LILO included in your distribution.

Before you try this, have a boot floppy ready. If something doesn't go as planned, you could RENDER YOUR SYSTEM UNBOOTABLE. You have been warned.

Ankh 2

Ankh 2

Game Homepage
Adventure in ancient Egypt

Osiris is back! And this time he's in no mood for games.

This time he will not fail. This time Osiris will show the world of humans what, he's made of. But the Ankh alone is not enough - not as long as he hasn't found the most important part of his body: his heart.

Life has not been kind to Assil. Only three weeks ago he managed to ward off his death curse. Since then his relationship (with Thara) has hit the rocks and the Ankh was stolen from him (by sinister assassins). Assil sets out to get it all back - and to once again face Osiris.

He is not the only victim, however - there is another: the pharaoh! One moment he sits on his throne, lazy, sluggish and with a heck of a hangover, the next he is a slave in his own quarry - how could this have happened? And more importantly: how is he going to get out of this without getting killed?

Ankh: Heart of Osiris is even more intense and more bizarre as it takes the player even deeper into the crazy world of old Cairo. You'll meet a lot of familiar faces, but of course there are plenty of new surprises too!

Aside from familiar locations, like the bazaar, there will be plenty of new locations for the player to explore - such as the quarry and the large arena with all its dark, convoluted catacombs.

And of course the black humour of the first game can be found in the sequel! Once again, old Egypt and its inhabitants are turned upside down and given a good seeing to.
