Game Homepage A Galaga-style space shoot-em-up This is a fun little space shoot-em-up game. Although the documentation and web page are in Japanese, you don't need it. It's standard Galaga-type fare, but well done at that. Bad guys come in waves followed by a big baddie at the end of each level. To help you, dead bad guys leave goodies in the form of power-ups and your choice of three guns. License: free

Game Homepage Yet another Tetris clone. Another tetris clone, for X11. No special effects or pretty backgrounds, but you can (via the standard X resource mechanism) redefine the keyboard/mouse mappings to your liking to emulate just about any other Tetris out there. License: free

Game Homepage Another variation on Tetris. Another falling blocks game where triplets of blocks arranged diagonally or horizontally (but not vertically!) get removed from the playing board. Simple, but fun. License: free

Game Homepage Race the growing lines until someone hits something. An implementation of the Tron game for X11 (race lightcycles until one player hits a wall). The graphics and interface are pretty, and there's even a computer opponent, but, well, it's still Tron. License: free

Game Homepage A multiplayer Gauntlet-style arcade game featuring open source mascots. Open source mascots, guns and a cheesy plot. Wage network holywars against each other or take on the evil Microsoft Empire. License: free

Game Homepage Another version of Arkanoid, Breakout, etc. A GPL SDL implementation of the classic game Arkanoid, in which a ball bounces on a map that has a number of bricks. As the ball hits bricks, they are removed from the map. If a balll eaves the bottom of the screen, the ball is lost, and the player looses a life. To avoid this, the player can control a paddle on which the ball bounces. Each time a brick is removed, the player is awarded points. The aim of the game is to score the most point. Yanoid has been designed to be extensible and flexible, allowing the game to be extended in novel ways. It is currently quite playable and enjoyable. While the main engine is written in C++, Yanoid uses python scripts to create maps, objects, etc. License: free
