Description :
![]() Frontier 2 - First Encounters JJFFE is set of recompiled replacement executables for the 1995 Frontier Developments game Frontier: First Encounters. There are currently versions that run under Windows 95/98/ME, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows NT4, OS/2 and Linux. As well as running on many more operating systems than the original, JJFFE also includes minor improvements and bugfixes. The legal status of this project is unclear. Anyway - game is very old now and shareware version is available. "Elite" was written by David Braben and Ian Bell starting in 1982. In "Elite" the player starts with a basic Cobra MkIII space craft, and a measly 100 Credits. The player then has to survive in a hostile galaxy containing traders, pirates, police, bounty hunters, and an elusive alien race, the "Thargoids". The player can earn money in many ways, including taking say, food from an agricultural world to an industrial world, and machinery on the return journey. They may prefer to be a pirate themselves, or perhaps do a little of each. Frontier: Elite II" was the long awaited sequel to Elite. The game was released in October 1993 and was in the top few slots in the UK Gallup chart for the best part of the following year. It was the best selling game in Europe 1993 according to Gallup. "First Encounters" was the sequel to Frontier. It was released in Easter 1995 and was well reviewed. It was, however released before it was ready, with known bugs. Despite the problems at the time of release it shipped around 100,000 units and is still played by many people, and is frequently discussed on the news group alt.fan.elite. License: free
