Game Homepage Solar System explorer. Open Universe is a piece of software, simulating the Solar System's bodies in 3D on your Linux PC (will work in most *NIX's as well). In difference to quite a few other programs it does so in realtime. Meaning you can view all the planets, moons and spaceships move along their paths, trace them, follow them, orbit them and even control them (time and spaceship contol). And you won't have to fight your way through hordes of green, slimey and one-eyed aliens for that. License: free

The program is highly modulable, that is you have an interface plugin (net interface, console interface, X11 interface) and an output plugin (mp3 audio, streaming mp3, even mods maybe). License: free

Game Homepage Port of Tran's 1994 timeless.exe demo to SDL/linux In 1994 Tran (aka Thomas Pytel) wrote TIMELESS.EXE in 100% x86 assembly language for the demo scene. This demo features a morphing background, color fades, overlaid sprites and hypnotic music. Tran released the source code but it's in non-portable X86 ASM. SDL_timeless is an effort to convert this codebase to a more cross platform version. Some things are worth preserving. License: free

Game Homepage An eye toy type game engine inspired by the Indie Game Jam 01 Shadowplay is a summer project that is basically a game engine for sony eye toy type games. It uses Video4Linux to capture video of what the player is doing and uses that information to interact with the games. There are currently 3 "games", although the latest one isn't quite done yet. It is still very much an alpha release with the hacker types as the target audience. License: free
