    An isometric map editor

tileFoundry is an isometric map editor I am writing to support development of my game.

It loads and saves maps in a simple XML format which should be easy to convert to other formats, and will also be available in the future as an engine with scripting hooks and events for a complete isometric game design package.

A Redhat 8.0 binary is included with the tarball.

    TZO Internet Naming System

    Game Homepage
TZO is a Dynamic DNS utility for TCP/IP games

TZO allows you to set a permanent name for your constantly changing dynamic IP address, which you can distribute to your friends. Log on and TZO's servers will take your current IP address and stamp your name to it. Then your friends can find your computer on the Internet by name, without those long, cryptic IP numbers. This is especially useful for hosting multiplayer games on your computer. You can also use it for video conferencing, Internet phones, and running your own Web, FTP, or remote-access servers from your cable modem or dial-up account. Log in, run TZO, and your computer is ready to take HTTP, FTP, or remote-control requests at yourname.tzo.com. TZO may be tried free for 30 days and is compatible with Linux as well as Windows.

Benchmarking UT2004 in Linux with UMark

A working version of UMark for Linux (native) has been released today. While only in beta status, it supports most of the features of its Windows® counterparts. UMark is an open source graphical interface and data collection system for running benchmarks with Unreal® Tournament 2003/2004. It is also coupled with a searchable online database called UMark Online.

This new release will provide the Linux gaming and hardware community with a means to benchmark a popular 3D engine comparable to the Windows® platform. The Linux version doesn't have support for the UMark Online benchmarking database yet, but with future releases, UMark Online will bridge the gap in benhcmarking between the two operating systems.

    Installs Unreal 1 under Linux

    Chunky's announcement on Linuxgames:

I've put together an Unreal I installer for Linux for if you have UT installed and an Unreal I CD. It's like the old unrealI installer was, but it's cooler for several reasons:

    • It doesn't complain about opening vortex2 when you try to start a new game
    • It has modified openUT stuff for things like prefs dir being ~/.loki/unreal
    • It uses Loki_setup
    • The secondary storage footprint is much smaller, since most stuff ends up symlinked out of the UT dir.

    Additional System Requirements:

  • A working UT installation
  • Unreal I CD
