Celestia is a free real-time space simulation that lets you experience our universe in three dimensions. Unlike most planetarium software, Celestia doesn't confine you to the surface of the Earth. You can travel throughout the solar system, to any of over 100,000 stars, or even beyond the galaxy. All travel in Celestia is seamless; the exponential zoom feature lets you explore space across a huge range of scales, from galaxy clusters down to spacecraft only a few meters across. A 'point-and-goto' interface makes it simple to navigate through the universe to the object you want to visit.

Crossfire+ is an open source, cooperative multiplayer graphical RPG and adventure game, much similar in style to nethack and moria, but fully graphical and realtime.

CFPlus is a new client which is still backwards compatible to Crossfire and implements the new features that Crossfire+ offers.

On the client page is a ready built executable for Windows (32bit) and instructions on how to download and install the client on GNU/Linux.

cgoban is an interface to NNGS, IGS and other go servers, allowing one to play go against human opponents. NNGS runs on linux, but doesn't have as many users as IGS, which runs NT.

go is probably the deepest strategy game ever conceived, giving both hemispheres of your brain a real workout. The rules are quite simple, but it takes a lifetime to master the game.

Chess master Lasker has been quoted as saying that go is deeper than chess.

There are other interfaces to the go servers that run on unix, but cgoban is probably the best at the time of this writing (3/13/99).

If you need a lot of explosions to have fun then go probably isn't for you, but if you, for example, enjoy a life-and-death race to see who captures whom first, you might really like go.
